Glorious Years, the Tradition of Medicine - Commemorating Chairman Mao's Birthday and His Deep Concern for Chinese Medicine
In the long history, there have always been some figures who illuminated the way forward for posterity with their extraordinary wisdom and deep vision. December 26th marks the birth of the great leader Comrade Mao Zedong, a day that deserves to be remembered forever. He was not only the great helmsman of the Chinese revolution, but also a wise man who had high hopes and devoted his heart to traditional Chinese medicine. In Chairman Mao's quotes, we can not only feel his high appreciation of traditional Chinese medicine, but also realize his eager expectations for integrated Chinese and Western medicine and common development.
I. The Light of Chinese Medicine Brightens the World
"If we in China have something to contribute to the world, I think traditional Chinese medicine is one." These words are Chairman Mao's highest praise for the value of Chinese medicine. In his view, traditional Chinese medicine is not only a treasure of China, but also a valuable asset that can benefit all mankind. The depth and depth of traditional Chinese medicine is reflected in its unique theoretical system, rich means of diagnosis and treatment, and outstanding efficacy. Acupuncture, as the essence of Chinese medicine, has earned Chairman Mao's favour with its simple and inexpensive features. He stressed: "Acupuncture is the essence of traditional Chinese medicine. It has a great future in the future if it is well promoted and studied." Under the promotion of Chairman Mao, acupuncture therapy has not only been widely used in China, but also went to the world, becoming an important bridge for the internationalization of Chinese medicine.
II. Chinese and Western medicine unite to achieve success
In Chairman Mao's view, Chinese and Western medicine is not mutually exclusive, but can be learned from each other and learned from one another. He is aware that both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine have a long way to go, and only by standing together can we jointly promote the development of medical causes. "Chinese and Western medicine need to be united. It is not good to look down on each other. We must break down sectarianism." This statement was not only a kind of exhortation to the medical profession at the time, but also a forward-looking prediction of the future development of medicine. He stressed the need to respect China's cultural heritage and value Chinese medicine: "We must respect our country's long-standing cultural heritage, and can afford Chinese medicine so that we can learn it." This reverence for traditional culture has laid a solid foundation for the integration of Chinese and Western medicine.
Chairman Mao also put forward the view that it is honorable for Western medicine to learn traditional Chinese medicine. He believed that through study and improvement, Western medicine can learn from the strengths of traditional Chinese Medicine, thereby breaking the boundaries between Western medicine and Chinese medicine and forming a unified medical system. This forward-looking mindset provided valuable ideas for later medical education reforms and clinical practice.
III. Practical Action to Support the Development of Chinese Medicine
Chairman Mao's concern for traditional Chinese medicine is not only limited to rhetoric, but also reflected in actual actions. He made clear: "I'm supportive, I can be minister of health or I can get this job done." This spirit of taking on responsibility and practicing has injected a strong impetus into the development of traditional Chinese medicine. He knew that the development of traditional Chinese medicine required the support of talent and resources, so he proposed an initiative "to draw between 100 and 200 graduates of medical schools or medical schools to give their clinical experience to well-known Chinese medicine practitioners." This initiative not only provides talent security for the inheritance and development of Chinese medicine, but also provides valuable opportunities for Western medicine to understand and learn Chinese medicine.
Examples: The internationalization of acupuncture
Under the promotion of Chairman Mao, acupuncture therapy gradually entered the international arena. In 1971, during his visit to China, former U.S. President Richard Nixon specifically invited renowned acupuncturists to treat the ailments of his entourage. The event quickly became an international sensation, and acupuncture became famous as a result. Since then, more and more countries have begun to accept and promote acupuncture therapy, and the international influence of traditional Chinese medicine has continued to increase. This fact fully proves Chairman Mao's vision for the internationalization of Chinese medicine.
Conclusion: The medical profession is inherited, and the fire is passed on
The years go by and the years go by. Although Chairman Mao is far away from us, his concerns and expectations for traditional Chinese medicine are forever engraved in the long history. In today's society, with the advancement of science and technology and the development of medicine, traditional Chinese medicine is still breathtaking. We must not only remember Chairman Mao's achievements and teachings, but also carry forward his thoughts and spirit and push forward the cause of traditional Chinese medicine. Let us work together to write a new chapter in the field of Chinese medicine!
On this special day of the 131st anniversary of Chairman Mao's birth, let us once again pay a high tribute to this great leader. May the light of his thought always shine on our way forward!
